COMFORT MEETS CONVENIENCE

The Mayo Clinic reports that 80% of adults will experience back pain in their lifetime. However, we realized that back pain materializes at a younger age. In a cross-sectional study, 74.4% of backpack users (ages 12-18) were classified as having back pain, validated by significantly poorer general health, more limited physical functioning, and more bodily pain. Many children carry heavy backpacks which for some may weigh 30% to 40% of their body weight, while doctors recommend that the maximum should be 10% of the body weight. It appears that time spent carrying the backpack as well as its weight is an important factor favoring back pain. The posture of the child’s spine is more likely to change when the weight of the backpack increases. It is proven that adolescents who suffer from back pain will most likely have chronic back pain as adults.

At Chiropack, our goal is to create backpacks that feel like we are lightening your load. We developed a unique weight distribution technology and experience reduced bodily stress through Chiropack’s best-fit backpack experience

Chiropack x Stumberg Venture Competiton

In 2020, Chiropack was selected to compete in the Louis H. Stumberg Venture Competition at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. We received over $17,000 in funding and stipends to support us as we embarked on our entrepreneurial journey. Our team was invited to participate in a 10-week startup accelerator program— a boot camp for market readiness and investment development. Check out our 5-minute pitch presented at the final round of the Stumberg Venture Competiton in September 2020.

Meet the Louis H. Stumberg Venture Competiton

A two-part, shark-tank-style experience, the Louis H. Stumberg New Venture Competition annually supports compelling student start-ups. At stake? $50k and access to experienced mentors and successful entrepreneurs.

In the first stage of the Stumberg Competition, teams of student ventures put their business ideas to the test. Pitching their ideas to a panel of judges, students vie to be selected for further mentorship opportunities and thousands of dollars in start-up funding.

Stumberg finalists dive head first into 10 weeks of full-time, paid, rigorous, hands-on discovery, and development. All this while receiving guidance from Trinity’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence, former Stumberg finalists, and successful business and community partners.

It’s down to the wire at the Stumberg Competition final round, the second part of the competition, which occurs during the fall. The five finalist teams have spent the summer developing and refining on their ventures, and the final competition is their chance to shine. A pitch to a panel of expert judges—Trinity alumni, community influencers, and business moguls—and a solid display of venture trajectory is all it takes for one team to secure the $25,000 grand prize.
